About DishTuner — Free Satellite Alignment Tool
Empowering satellite dish installers and enthusiasts with precision alignment tools.
Our Mission
DishTuner was built to make satellite dish alignment accessible to everyone — from professional installers running their tenth job of the day to first-time DIY enthusiasts trying to pick up a free-to-air channel. Getting the perfect signal should not require expensive equipment, a specialist engineer, or hours of trial and error.
We calculate precise azimuth, elevation, and LNB skew angles for any location on Earth, covering 280+ satellites across 240+ countries. Enter your location, pick your satellite, and you have the exact pointing angles in seconds — completely free, no account required.
What's in the Satellite Database
The DishTuner database is sourced from Lyngsat, one of the most comprehensive and actively maintained satellite frequency references in the world. It covers geostationary satellites in C-band, Ku-band, and Ka-band with full transponder and channel data.
- 280+ satellites with orbital positions, beam footprints, and transponder details
- 11,000+ TV and radio channels including free-to-air and encrypted services
- 240+ countries and territories — every inhabited region on Earth is covered
- Regional coverage: Europe (Astra, Hotbird), Middle East & Africa (Arabsat, Eutelsat), South Asia (Paksat), East Asia (Asiasat, Chinasat), Americas (Galaxy, SES), and more
How DishTuner Works
DishTuner uses your device's GPS coordinates (or a manually entered location) alongside each satellite's published orbital position to calculate three alignment angles in real time. The azimuth we report is true (geographic) north — if you're aiming with a magnetic compass, apply your local declination from any compass app. Elevation and LNB skew are derived from spherical-Earth trigonometry using the standard geostationary orbit ratio. The same calculator runs on the web and in the Android app, so you get identical numbers on either platform.
The DishTuner Mobile App
The Android app extends the web tool with features designed for on-site installation work. Point your phone at the sky and the AR overlay shows you exactly where each satellite is relative to your current position — no compass arithmetic required. The app works offline once the satellite data is cached, making it reliable even on rooftops with patchy data signal.
The app is free to download on Google Play. Download DishTuner for Android →
Why DishTuner Is Free
Same Calculator
One implementation, used by both the web tool and the Android app, so the angles always agree
Satellites Covered
Every major geostationary satellite in C-band, Ku-band, and Ka-band
Countries Supported
Works for any location on Earth — just enter your city or coordinates
The web tool and core calculations will always be free. Satellite TV is a vital source of information and entertainment for millions of people in regions where broadband is unavailable or unaffordable — we believe everyone should have access to accurate dish alignment data without a paywall.
